The French manicure
![]() |
If you are a woman who has gone tired of flashy or soft nail paints, and love to go the natural yet stylish way, French manicure is the right thing for your nails. Some think that the French manicure has gone passed and outdated, while some are of the opinion that French manicure is evergreen and can never run out of style because of its simple and elegant look. Whatever the style trend is, women mostly go for French manicure because of the natural look it evokes. It also gives the nails that clean, well-groomed appearance that is neither flashy nor fussy.
Now, how to go about putting a French manicure- French manicure is well suited for short nails or nails with moderate nails. You should start by cleaning your nails with acetone remover and then giving them a nice trim. After you clean and trim your nails, apply a base coat to your nails. Keep this base coat thin and even and then put a tip guide to your nails that will cover the lower part of your nail and keep the naturally white part open. Then apply white nail paint on the tips. If you are not comfortable with pure white, then you can go for off-whites. After applying white let the nails dry completely. Keep the white line thin and even as if you keep the white part thick, your nails will look chunky.
When the white polish on the tips dry completely, remove the nail tip guides thoroughly. Then, paint the entire length of your nails with a beige polish or a polish with a transparent pinkish tone. Put two coats of this polish and then after this put a layer of top coat on your nails and then dry them completely. This is the final step and after drying, your French manicure is complete. To extend the life of your French manicure and to make your nails look well groomed and beautiful, apply and extra layer of top coat on your nails every night.
For all its simplicity and fresh look, putting the French manicure can be a bit tricky and tedious if you don’t have the right things to use. Most drug stores and beauty shops sell a proper French manicure kit which has all the needed things for the right French manicure. Whereas if you are not confident about putting it yourself, you can always visit a nail saloon and get your nails done.
