Prints reigning this summer – Tribal, Earths and Abstracts!

Where on one side, the summer has given us the florals, the other facet seems to be taking us back to the basics. The source from where we came from – Our Earth. A huge collection of dresses this summer is seen to have been showing prints in earthen hues such as the sienna, burnt umber and orchre. Let’s see how well can we carry them off this season.

This year the dresses are of full length, making the maxi popular once again. These are long simple cut dresses set on a halter yoke, both feature striking with highly innovative prints influences from the primitive tribes. Neutral color palates blend with the shades of the terrain look exotic. Yes, these prints do speak a different language as compared to the  bright florals but there has to be something for everyone and these abstract prints have their audiences too.

Coming back to our designs, we will see that some tribal trends rely on simple dresses or tunics and let the fabric take all the attention. Then there are others such as skirts with swing flares which are a classic alternative to the swing dirndl gathers or bulky pleats. Abstract prints find their advantage as they can suit any fabric and base colors. The Spring 2008 also has two ranges for the monsoons focusing on tribal looks called Zanzibar and Tangier.  The result is an understated safari combined with tribal prints and pattern details that create a modern urban look for the global chic. Key items come in an opulent color mix of chocolate, amber, scarlet red highlighted with metallics in particular.  Elegant printed dresses and separates are finished with tribal inspired trims making for a sophisticated and glamorous take from Monsoon.

So for the large community of women who felt that flaunting bright, striking colors is not your forte, you have these prints doing the talking for you. If you team this earthy tribal look with wooden cuffs, wood beads, onyx and ebony carved pieces of jewelry,
you’ll be set to make a all new style statement, not to the mention the number of heads you will turn around.
