Create your personal style statement

Women and fashion go hand in hand. It is the dream of every red blooded female to be an epitome of style and elegance, for which they largely fall back on fashion.

Over the centuries, fashion has changed its looks and style copiously. With the onset of every new season, big fashion houses like Versace, Gucci and Tommy Hilfiger are ready to line up their shops and boutiques with their contemporary and unique clothes.

And more often than not, you will see women mindlessly aping these styles. The moment a new trend sees the light of the day, the streets are swarmed with ladies looking all alike. After all they are the latest trends. Now this is where the crux lies.

Trends are made to be followed. Right? Well not always; especially when they are trying to make a fashion statement. Unfortunately, women’s fashion trends make them impressionable. In an attempt to transform themselves into a fashion diva, they blindly follow the current fads not realizing whether it is doing them any good or not.

They are usually gullible enough to believe that what is in vogue will help them to metamorphose into sexy and stylish women overnight. After all it works for others.

But not everything suits everyone. It is imperative to understand the importance of dressing to accommodate your body type. Depending on various factors, some cuts and styles may do wonders for you but others may make you look gauche. Here are a few things that can be kept in mind before you get carried away by the latest trends.

• Buy clothes that fit your body: It is always advisable to buy clothing that actually fits your body. Anything which is too big (baggy T-shirts) or too small (tiny tank tops) will make you look larger than you really are.

• Buy clothes that skim: Remember that instead of becoming a second skin, the fabric of your clothes should skim your curves. Look for fabric that drapes and falls in a flattering way and suits your body.

• Think neutrals: Black, camel, cream, dark brown makes you look slimmer and minimize individual features.

Hence, don’t try and imitate the latest trends unthinkingly. Be unique! Choose clothes that draw attention to the positive facets of your body and camouflage the negative aspects no matter what is in vogue. After all, it is your own personal style statement!!
