Choosing the Right Dress

choosing the right dress
Most of us come across a dilemma while choosing the right dress for ourselves for the right occasion. It depends on your body shape and skin color that decides the dress meant for you. Flaunt what’s the best on your body and hide the “not so pretty” areas. So, step one is to determine your body shape, and select colors and styles to suit your general shape and flatter your figure. Then just experiment with different looks to find out what is the best for you. So here are some tips to refer for getting the right look for that long awaited event.

Let’s start with the pear shaped look. Attributes include a slender and often elongated torso, small bust, with hips and thighs proportionally larger than the torso and waist. Now, as the lower part is broader than shoulders, toss the tight straight skirt in favor of an a-line skirt or empire waistline to de-emphasize the lower half of your body. It’s better to add padded shoulders to balance the top and bottom part of your body. At times you can also mix colors and wear a double toned dress. The lighter shade on top and a darker tone for the bottom will give a balanced look.

Another body type is the hour glass shape. Attributes include a small bone structure and waistline with bust and hips proportionally larger than the waist: in a word, voluptuous. If you have that then congrats, it is considered to be the most appealing body shape by men! It gives the “sexy look” to be more precise. You have good curves that are seductive but don’t over-emphasize it by wearing too tight clothes. De-emphasize your voluptuous, abundant curves by shedding tight-fitting clothing in favor of clothing with a looser, smoother fit. Monotone colors work best as it provides a sense of continuity from head to toe. Wear heavy jewelry on the neck or flashy earrings to take the attention off your heavy bust and bottom.

For females with a straight boyish figure including minimum curves, only a few near the shoulder and hips, two piece dresses like a skirt and top look better that a one piece cocktail dress. Wear wrap tops that gives a shape to your waistline and brings out the feminine look. People with round body shapes and more than average physique but with slimmer legs should wear lose fitting clothes with a v-neck and jewelry and good news is that designers are now designing clothes meant for them unlike what it was a few years back.

Another body shape is inverted triangle i.e. broad shoulders with narrow waistline. Wear a dress with flair skirt. Try an unusual or asymmetrical hemline. You can also draw attention off your broad shoulders by wearing flashy shoes. So, identify your body type and get the right look!

WHERE HAVE ALL THE ANIMALS GONE

Over the years use of animal skin and fur as clothing has been in trend. It’s a mark of elite ness and sophistication among people especially women folk. Animal furs like that of the mink (a small weasel like animal) are popular among women belonging to high profile families especially in places like Europe and America. The animal is worn around the neck with an elegant ball dress. Other furry animals are also used for the same purpose. Even though the use of original fur has been banned in many places the fashion still remains.

Use of animal skin for long dresses and robes like that of a tiger, bear, and cheetah has been a fashion statement. Shawls made out of tiger skin and jewellery made out of elephant teeth (ivory) is a craze amongst women. It’s like wearing another skin to cover yours not thinking about the fact that it leaves behind a dead innocent animal.

But still if one is looking different from the entire lot who cares about the animal count or preservation of endangered species for protection of environment. It’s about flaunting your style statement and being the icon of all fashion beauties.
Many cosmetics are also made out of animal oils and secretions. One such example is of the perfume made out of musk of the musk deer. The musk of this deer gives out a pleasant smelling liquid which is used to make the most popular musk perfume sold under various brands at a very high price in international markets. Smelling good is key to set your high standards. By killing one musk deer we can merely gather 4-5 drops of musk fluid to make the perfume. Imagine costing the life of an innocent being to smell good just for a night at a party with some so called elite people you want to impress.

Not only in making cosmetics, but the animals are also used for testing cosmetics. Every cream, lipstick or anything we apply is first tested on animals for any kind of skin reactions or allergies. Then it is passed on to be used for the delicate and precious skin of ladies! Substances such as eye shadow and soap are tested on rabbits, rats, pigs, dogs and other animals despite of the fact that the test results don’t help prevent or treat human illness or injury. Even though non-animal alternatives exists, some companies still go on testing their products on animals killing millions of them over the years due to harmful side effects.

So ladies next time you put on that beautiful fur your beau gave you, just think about the animal you killed to gain that charm on your body. Or perhaps just wonder once before putting that cold cream at night as how many animals had to suffer skin problems to make your skin beautiful.

So this answers the topic of this piece “where have all the animals gone”. Now you know where they have gone!

UNDERSTANDING FASHION

UNDERSTANDING FASHION

Whenever we talk about fashion, a superbly hot looking lady starts reverberating in our mind. The reason behind this is fashion is a replica of beauty, makeup and style, which is best seen in women.

The fashion conscious female is now more aware about the way they look and present themselves. They have brought a transformation in their lifestyles, now they take advantage of opportunities available in the market for them. Cheers! On the success of fashion.

1. Take care of your body frame while choosing a dress for your party. If you are a plump woman, try to avoid wearing sleeveless tops. You could probably go for darker colored clothing instead of wearing lighter shades. You could also prefer dull colors like dirty blue or dull blue. Wearing vertical line or small prints would also give a slimming effect.

For those with a medium build, you could go for pieces with fawn or beige colors. For blouses, nets would be great to help disguise physical flaws.

For slimmer women, any color or style would work well.

2. Skin Tone
If you have fairer complexion, gold and copper shades, as well as maroon, would look good on you. For women with medium complexion, go for shades of beige, white or bronzy golden. For darker-skinned women, golden copper shades, as well as oranges and reds work best.

3. Personality
The attitude you possess essentially defines your clothing sense and overall appearance

4. A good fit is always the key. Be sure to try on lots of dresses - even those that don’t seem to be something that you would like or wear. Clothing looks totally different on the hanger, than on you! Who knows? You could end up loving that tangerine-colored, satin, skinny-strapped gown that’s so NOT your usual color or cut.

5. Personal style and taste should reflect your overall look.

Keeping your look up to date is the basic mantra to follow on these days among girls:

• Pick up a woman’s magazine.
• Go to a different store and try new labels.
• Slip in some punchy color every season.
• Accessories are the easiest way to update your look.

Taking inspiration from the couture runways, this year’s prom dresses are less Cinderella and more Hollywood. Funky details, shorter skirts and loud color schemes are quite popular. Indeed, there seems to be a style for every type of girl!
