THE BIKINI BASH
![]() |
As lazy beach barbeques and nights of aqua abandon scorch ones summer soiree, its time to flaunt the bikini. Like its wearer, the bikini is a much more evolved that even designers seem to be swearing by. A designer says that designer bikinis are ‘sexier’ with fun cuts and funkier tones. One feels its versatility makes it a staple in resort wear.” in a season of heady Arabic influences, wear the bikini under a free flowing, one off shoulder chiffon kaftans and jeweled Moroccan sandals. Or under a short tennis dress with pumps and an interesting sports bag would do. Or get loungey donning it under an oversized men’s shirt with a big belt and a large tote.
Abetting the popularity of the bikini cut are modern day silver screen beauties. Women daring to bare in bikinis are those who have invested a lot in their bodies and want to show off their curves. The bikini wave is huge internationally too with hot bods donning swimwear with a nautical twist. Halter stripped bikinis in navy blue and coral red and plunging neckline swimsuits in contrasts of orange and fuchsia are the toast of the bikini circuit.
The one piece bikini has made a comeback, adding a dose of elegance, especially to women with a not so tiny waist. A chick, black halter neck one piece bikini is definitely the one piece you can’t holiday without. If adventure is your calling get bootylicious in the latest cutaway bikini, also referred to as a monokini. The cut away swim suit a great alternative, giving you the greater coverage around your stomach but providing an increased tanning area than a one piece. Fluorescent and solid tones of zesty orange, citrusy lime and canary yellow are in these days.
Metallic shades and embellishments are the next bet, so if your two piece drips gold metallic trimmings along the edges, your glam quotient just got more envious. Summer also spells exotic holidays, so flaunt your wild side in a two piece in leopard or zebra prints! Another hot trend, if your conscious of the transparency factor in the pool are multidensity afro tribal and jungle prints in asymmetrical and one shoulder styles. Invest with bikinis with broad, jeweled waist bands or bikinis in rich jewel tones of emerald green and copper with tie up buckles on the side, embroidered accents and precious sequins. It will be a semi-outfit!
If your body is short in proportion to your legs try a bikini with a halter top to emphasize your bust and shoulders.
To give the feel of long legs, go for one piece bikini with high cut legs. If you have a pear shape, try pairing an attractive bikini with sober bottoms in a dark color.
If large bust, choose a bikini top with hidden underwire for additional support.
If small bust, to add more cleavage, choose a bikini top with a triangle shaped cups and a tie front.
Ready to face the future, the bikini is here to stay!
